A Man Called Ove | Fredrik Backman | Book Review
“Life is a Curious Thing. People said Ove saw the world in black and white. But she was colour. All the colour he had. She believed in destiny. That all the roads you walk in life, in one way or another ‘lead to what has been predetermined for you’”.
When I finished this book, I was in a trance. The world kept moving around me but I was not in it, I was still in Ove’s world. The magic that this book created and the lessons it taught were just enticing.
This is the story of an 59 year old cranky man called Ove who has lost his wife(the only person who find his crankiness charming and love him immensely) and now his job. So now nothing left, he decides to takes his life and meet Sonja, his wife in afterlife.
But do everything goes by our plan. No. His idea to commit suicide seems to be hated even by the universe. So thus begins another chapter of Ove’s life where his crankiness is loved by anyone and everyone who meets him and soon he is a HERO.
This book takes you on a roller coaster in terms of emotions. In the age, when we find hot and good looking young guys as hero, here comes Ove, who fills your heart with love, wittiness, humour, sadness, pain and ultimately commitment.
The author has created magic with words. When you finish this book, you will love Ove because he will remind you of your father, your grandfather or any other person who has values and stands for them.
My rating definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
