The Sandman | Lars Kepler | Book Review

Chilling and Hard Core

Lars Kepler is the duo of two amazing and talented authors who writes crime fiction books. I came across the authors works last year and I have to start with the most popular and admired work The Sandman.

The Sandman tells us the story of a brutal crime and kidnapping happened years ago and introduces us to the most notorious criminal Jurek Walter. The book starts with the escape of Mikael Koehler Frost who went missing thirteen years earlier along with his sister and the shocking revelation that his sister is still alive but hold captive by the most dangerous criminal, The Sandman. Hence, Detective Joona Linna is brought back into action because he is the sole person who made Jurek Walter talk years ago and who still believes that there is hope of finding this girl alive.

This book captivated my interest from the very first chapter and I loved how the author had detailed every scene and action, which was essential for this read. The characters were crafted so well that they give you chills while reading. Each chapter holds your interest and had a twist that was not forthcoming. I liked how each role was used to its full capacity and how much terrifying Jurek’s character was portrayed. Jurek was just the most cunning and manipulative yet maniac criminal created so far.

It’s definitely a hard to put down book, terrifying and horrifying at the same time.
